The Best Campsites for the Tour de France Grand Depart

Check out our list of where to pitch your tent and watch the racing action from the historic Tour de France Grand Depart in Yorkshire.

If you want a little more luxury, or just four walls and a roof over your head at night, we’ve added three options that you might just love.

Best for: Luxury in Leeds

Fancy kicking your Grand Depart experience off in luxury? Break out the credit card and stay in this beautiful boutique Malmaison hotel, located in the centre of Leeds.

Formally the home of the Leeds City Tramways Office, the building has been converted into a hundred opulent rooms and suites, situated in the centre of the ‘Knightsbridge of the North’, so once you’ve waved the riders off, you can pop out for a spot of designer shopping.

More importantly, it’s located a short distance from the departure point at The Headrow in the city centre, so you can enjoy your posh brekky, and wander over in plenty of time to cheer them on their way!

Accommodation Type: Hotel
Location: Leeds
Price: Around £540 per room per night
Sleeps: Double and twin bedrooms, and suites.

Best for: Watching the Finish of Stage 1

Fancy a view over the finishing line in Harrogate? Over on AirBnB, you can rent an apartment right by the finish line, so you can pop out, cheer the riders over the line, join in the festivities or just retire to your balcony to enjoy the atmosphere from up high.

At £515 per night it’s not cheap, but the apartment does sleep 4, looks beautifully decorated, and is incredibly well located for the finish line.

AirBnB is also worth checking out for other accommodation along the route, so if this one has gone, have a look at what else is around.

Accommodation Type: Apartment
Location: Harrogate
Price: £515 per night
Sleeps: 4, 2 double bedrooms.

Best for: Budget accommodation for the big finish in London

Just around the corner from the final straight through London, and a short tube or bus ride from the finish at Buckingham Palace, this hostel is a great budget option for watching the end of the final Grand Depart stage.

If you fancy sight-seeing over the weekend, you’ve already got a great view of St Paul’s Cathedral, right outside your door. The hostel has free wifi and a restaurant on site for meals, and accommodation is in single sex dorm rooms.
