London to the Chilterns
London to the Chilterns
Why do the Chilterns sound somehow far away? They’re not.
The chalky Chiltern Hills, an Area of Natural Beauty since 1965 (before then it was an area of un-natural beauty?!) lie just North-West of London, but London riders don’t tend to head out in that direction. This ride will show you why they should.
This is an 84 mile ride (with just under 5,000 ft of climbing) that leaves the infamous Look Mum No Hands! cafe, and runs from London to Barnet, onto St Albans, before looping over the hills and returning just past Bushey and Edgware.
You could skip the loop, to make this a shorter route, but you’d miss the most beautiful areas around Gaddesden Row, Aldbury and Ashley Green.
