First impressions: Hincapie 2013/14 women’s road cycle clothing

Hincapie have been kind enough to let us take a sneak peek at their 2014 Spring range.  The Chantilly collection is made up of a short sleeve jersey, shorts, and matching arm and leg warmers, all including high-tech performance features with a distinctive new design.

The jersey is striking, featuring what can best be described as ‘wet-look’ lycra on the front, shoulder and back panels and a lace print design. Hincapie say the super-fine, elastic TourTek™ fabric is used to improve aerodynamic qualities and reduce drag, while hugging the body and wicking moisture away from the skin.

There are wide panels down the side and a smaller one between the shoulder blades that features Accelerator™ stretch mesh fabric. Don’t worry about the mesh looking quite see-through, the moment it’s against the skin it covers everything and isn’t revealing at all.

The pockets are configured a little differently on the back of the Chantilly jersey, the best way to describe it as, is ‘stacked’. Hopefully the photo will do them justice – we’re just concerned we won’t be able to fit in as much as we need to.

As for the arm cuffs, they have ProGrip™ technology, which means there are no stitched bands. On the inside the silicone grip essentially looks like snake skin, with a sharp lined laser cut cuff.

In terms of sizing, the medium fitted our size 10 model well, both in terms of fit and length. There was a silicone band on the inside of the rear hem at the waist of the jersey, which is incredibly sticky and will ensure none of your derriere is revealed.
