Review: dhb Ladies Chase Short Sleeved Jersey

The Chase is dhb’s summer short-sleeved jersey. It has a half-zip and uses lightweight and slightly perforated fabric to maximise ventilation.

In the name of testing I took myself off to ride in the Tuscan hills and can happily report that it performed very well in temperatures up to 40oC. More practically, it’s done pretty well in the UK spring and early summer too. On a few occasions I’ve found it to be a bit cool although that’s been easily rectified with arm warmers or a light baselayer.

I’m a bit wary of lightweight kit on the mtb as I find it often ends up snagged or torn. But so far the Chase has stood up pretty well in the face of rampant brambles and a fair amount of rucksack use. The fabric is also claimed to be odour resistant. Whilst I don’t suffer from particularly smelly arm pits / kit I have done my best to leave this in a festering pile on a couple of occasions to test this notion. So far, it remains stench free.

The Chase Short Sleeved Jersey here isn’t marketed as a road or mtb jersey and I’d happily wear it on either. Fit-wise dhb have designed this as a slim fit; I’m a UK size 8-10 and the size 10 was a nice but slightly looser fit. If you like your jerseys tight, I’d go for the smaller size. It has three good sized rear pockets which are deep enough to stash all my ride spares and snacks.

The list price for the Chase Short Sleeved Jersey is £49.99; at the time of writing Wiggle were selling it for a shade under £40. Whilst it isn’t the cheapest jersey you’ll find but I wouldn’t be disappointed with it for this price. It’s available in sizes 8-16 in either red or a white/green combo.
