Hurray, here’s a brand that’s rethinking cycling style and gives more than two hoots about how and where their fabrics and garments are constructed. We are secretly a bit in love with Velocio so prepare for a bit of a love-fest in the next few paragraphs!
The Velocio Stripes Jersey has more than livened up my cycling wardrobe and the excellent technical fabrics are worth shouting about too. The front, rear and sleeve panels are Resistex Bio Ceramic fabric, a wonderful super-stretchy fabric that keeps you cool and dry and has UV ray protection too. The mesh side panels enhance the ventilation and fit too.
You barely notice you’re wearing this jersey, it moves with your body and weighs next to nothing, and quite literally dries in minutes straight from the washing machine, so a bit (or lot) of sweat doesn’t faze it at all.
You may have come across tiny pockets on smaller sized women’s jerseys but not here! Velocio have managed to fit four full-sized pockets on the rear including a waterproof zipper pocket with reflective strips and logos.
This attention to detail flows through the whole jersey and includes silicone gripper at the rear for a nice secure position, meaning you can load up those pockets in confidence. All zips are top notch in terms of quality, durability and ease of use and they’re neatly concealed to enhance the sleek design too.
Having worn literally dozens of jerseys in 22 years riding and testing I’m pretty sick of cutting out annoying tags and labels, so thanks Velocio for printing the size and Made in Italy info in the collar. I’m a real wuss when it comes to seams and stitching annoying me too, I like seams to lay flat or be smooth and discreet, so top marks on passing my sensitivity test here!
The fit of the Velocio Stripes Jersey is close and racy, as we already said it’s a really stretchy fit and to me a tell-tale sign a jersey is properly designed to fit women is if the shoulder arms and bust area allow for a flexible and comfortable fit.
If you haven’t tried a jersey with a full length zip yet then have a go, perfect coupled with bib shorts. The collar and cuffs are super-stretchy and can be an area often overlooked for enhancing comfort and fit, not in this case though. All the finishing trim has been well considered and compliments the lovely styling.
So here goes with the philosophy and responsibility stuff; all the garments are made in Italy using a family owed factory, Velocio say ‘We’ve met the sewers, chatted with the printers and shared coffee with the fabric suppliers.
Velocio clothing is made under strict EU labor guidelines and fair labor practices. Velocio fabrics are carefully considered for their performance and function balanced within their impact, environmentally.
Our mills are bluesign approved and have undergone reviews for their treatment of wastewater and energy efficiency meeting the European standards for environmental conservation. Velocio packaging is recyclable. All printed collateral is made on 100% post-consumer recycled product. Velocio uses minimal packaging in shipping.’
Verdict:
We don’t have anything negative to say about this jersey, it ticks all the boxes and more. It’s super comfortable and a delight to wear, the construction is excellent as are the high performance fabrics. Perfect for summer riding!

Excellent construction and fabrics
Beautiful style and detailing
Worth every penny – it’ll last you years
Cons:
Needless to say, you pay for what you get and it’s not cheap.
