Red Bull Fox Hunt – FAQ’s

What kind of bike will be suitable for the event?

A full downhill rig won’t be necessary for the course, though of course you can ride one if you want to! A good all-mountain bike will be fine, so that’s a full suspension bike with around 140mm plus of travel.

What helmet do I need?

You can choose whether you’d prefer to wear a full-face or a trail helmet. Full-face helmets won’t be compulsory.

Do I need body armour?

Again, body armour won’t be compulsory, but we’d strongly recommend kneepads at least.

So what’s the track going to be like?

Expect a mixed bag here, with plenty of variety and fun to be had. It’s much more of an enduro course than a full on downhill.

The track will be nice and wide, which is great as this means you’ll have plenty of line choice and won’t need to worry about everyone being squeezed onto narrow singletrack – there’s going to be plenty of room up there!

The will also be ample line choice available, with obstacles having A and B options so you can choose to ride over them or bypass them. About half the trail will be open moorland. Over the rest of it you can expect a small wood section, some built obstacles, rollable table tops (no gap jumps here!).

Basically, if you can comfortably handle red trails at UK trail centres like the Forest of Dean, Glentress, Cannock Chase or Coed Y Brenin, you’ll be fine.

What else is going on over the weekend?

This is going to be a full on festival of biking and fun. There’ll be a tipi, bar, music, dancing, a BBQ, and of course a campfire.

Do we get any goodies?

Of course! Everyone wants a souvenir, right? All entrants will get an exclusive Foxhunt jersey to race in, and there will be jam packed goody bags too. We like.

How do I sign up and what does it cost?

Entry to the event is a miniscule £5 and all of the entrance money goes to charity, the spinal cord injury research foundation Wings For Life. Another £10 gets you camping for the weekend, from Friday night through to Sunday. So that’s £15 for the whole weekend!
