Cycletta is a female only cycling event of 20, 40 and 60km bikes rides supported by a number of athletes including Olympian, Victoria Pendleton. The aim is to encourage more women to cycle for fitness and fun. Participants have the opportunity to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support or a charity of their choice during the event. Cycletta events take place annually throughout the UK. Ladies are given a free pamper session and goodie bag once finishing. Riders can enter individually, or as part of a group to ensure you get the same start time, a minimum age of 16 applies to entry. A few events allow girls over the age of 12 to ride with an adult as well as a ‘scootathon’ for young children to take part before the main event begins.
Cycletta started in 2011 with just two events, and quickly grew providing cyclists nationwide the opportunity to take part. The varied distances ensure that everyone has something to suit them and there are regular feed stations on route during the ride. In 2012, Cycletta was named as one of the best cycle events in the UK by The Guardian. In 2013 Cycletta came to Scotland and Wales for the first time.
