I know – we’re spending a lot of time in Surrey – but the Surrey Hills are a fantastic place to ride, and so accessible from London.

This ride is actually 102 miles long, with 7,600 feet of climbing – and it begins in Ashtead, just outside of Epsom which is a short train journey (or ride…) from London.

You’ll start by coasting through Leatherhead , with your first climb up Combe Lane near Albury, then a second on the way to Hindhead. The towns and villages of Midhurst, Walliswood and Forest Green are all beautiful places to visit, and will give you plenty to look at as you prepare your legs for an ascent of Coldharbour before a trip up Box Hill (which will seem like a little hillock in comparison).
