Top 10 Charity Bike Rides for 2014

Take on a charity bike ride challenge in 2014, and raise money for a good cause!

One of the original charity bike rides, the British Heart Foundation London to Brighton cycle ride is a must do in our opinion. It’s a great one for beginner and experienced cyclists alike, as you’ll have closed roads to yourself the whole way down from capital to coast. Expect all kinds of bikes, from racers to dutch bikes with baskets.

Whether you like to motor or cruise, you’ll pass some beautiful scenery. The event has a wonderful atmosphere, with local organisations like Guide and Scout groups setting up tea and cake stops all along the route. It’s well worth stopping to refuel with a sticky bun.

The final hill – Ditchling Beacon – is a bit of a killer, and plenty of people walk up it. You’re rewarded at the top with stunning views, and a downhill ride all the way to the finish line along the seafront. Collect your medal, grab some fish and chips, hop on the organised buses back to London and you’re done!

The event sells out quickly, but never fear, they also run a number of other cycling challenges! How about the London to Brighton Night Ride?

Tempted to try it? Here’s our write up from 2013.
