Six of the best women’s 2014 full suspension mountain bikes over £1500

The Liv Giant has 27.5 inch wheels and a aluminium tubing frame.

Liv Giant’s women’s specific range of mountain bikes are all designed around the 27.5″ (originally termed 650b) wheel size, which is a nice middle ground between the ‘old skool’ 26” and slightly bigger and heavier 29” wheel sizes – nice and nimble yet with a bit more traction than a 26” wheel. The groupset is a mixture of Shimano Deore, in the form of rear derailleur and shifters and SRAM’s X5 front derailleur, the double crankset is SRAM’s S1000 22/36.

The full suspension mountain bike frame is constructed from Aluxx SL aluminium tubing and has 100mm suspension with Fox Float CTD Evolution rear shock and Fox 32 Float CTD Evolution fork with 15mm thru-axle. It’s aimed at XC riders who want a fun ride and to get the most of our technical trails, it will also do the distance on Marathon races too.

If you fancy a bit more travel and a descent bias then look at the Intrigue, you get 5.5inches (that’s almost 140mm) of suspension travel and RockShox Revelation Dual position fork with 120/140mm travel and RockShox Monarch R rear shock. The Intrigue will set you back £1999 and has the same lightweight Aluxx SL aluminium tubing, and similar spec to the Lust.
