All the bikes have several key features that make them great for female riders, and are particular selling points for the range.
Smaller Sizes
The range of mountain bikes for smaller riders is limited, so with most models suitable for riders from 5 foot upwards, and the Origin and Nevis models suitable for riders from 4”8, Juliana Bicycles have some excellent offerings.
Handlebars and grips
One of the major contact points when riding, and often an issue for smaller riders. The Juliana bikes all have compact handlebars and grips; narrower and thinner should mean a better, easier grip and greater comfort while riding.
Saddle
Female specific saddles are something that comes as standard on the vast majority of women’s specific mountain bikes these days, and the Juliana’s are no exception. Their own saddle has several design features that complement the elements on the bikes perfectly, looks wise.
Wheel size and crank length
Many of the bikes in the ranges have smaller wheel sizes and complementary crank lengths for the smaller bikes. This makes them more comfortable and manoeuvrable at the smaller sizes; massive 29er wheels aren’t going to work on a size XS frame.
Lifetime crash replacement warranty
The Juliana bicycles use the highly regarded Santa Cruz frames, which means they benefit from a lifetime crash replacement warranty. This is good news as the bikes are a bit of an investment, and Santa Cruz have an excellent reputation for looking after their customers.
But what are they like to ride?
There are several demo days planned up and down the country, where you can have a proper gander and take on out for a spin. We’ll also be reviewing one of the bikes in the range – so watch this space.
