Another favourite Latin American city to see in the New Year in, Buenos Aires is a great choice for families and those looking for a slightly more low-key but equally as exotic affair.

A stunning firework display can be enjoyed from many points around the city including from the restaurants of Puerto Madero and at The Planetarium. If you are in Buenos Aires without any kids and are eager to party Latino style though, then head to la Recoleta to see in the New Year before proving that Brits can dance too in one of Palermo’s many dance clubs that don’t even open until after midnight.

If your legs aren’t too achey from all the dancing the night before, follow one of the many cycle routes all around the city or join an organised cycle tour to learn a bit about Buenos Aires’ history at the same time the next day. If you’ve already got your fill of Buenos Aires in 2014, then catch a ferry over to Uruguay for the day and cycle all around the pretty little town of Colonia before getting the boat back to BA in time for dinner.
