Cool Bike Gadgets: Carry-Less Tools
Ok, so this is the closest we could get to an energy gel that tastes like a baked cinnamon pear (which is our favourite as the winter approaches) and were pretty chuffed with the outcome.
This ones bursting with pear juice and is a lot less sickly than other natural energy gel recipes, giving you a refreshing kick for the road ahead. We used naturals pears for this but tinned pears in juice will work just as well.
Our natural energy gels are super easy to make, don’t require a large amount of ingredients and settle much better in your body than shop bought ones! To store your home-made natural energy gels, you can use freezer bags or buy your own reusable squeeze tubes.
Ingredients
– 3 pitted dates
– 1 tbsp of honey
– 1 and a 1/2 tablespoons of coconut oil
– 3/4 of a pear
– 2 tsp of cinnamon
– 1/4 of a cup of pear juice (tinned or fresh)
Method
Place all the ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth.
You can keep adding more of the pear juice and coconut oil if the mixture gets too thick and more dates if the mixture becomes too runny.
Finish by transferring the natural energy gel into a freezer bag or squeeze tube and pop into the fridge or freezer until needed.
