La Course by Le Tour, 28 July
Taking place on the final day of the Tour de France, La Course is the work of a group of professional female racers, campaigning for the reawakening of the women’s Tour.
What is Women’s Specific Cycling Gear?
This race stands proud in the pro women’s calendar, and a win is worth over 22,000 euros, equal to that which the male winner will receive just a few hours later.
An 89 km race, consisting of 13 laps on the course traditionally used for the finale of the Tour de France, is flat and the Champs-Elysees finish favours a sprinter. In the case of the inaugural event, Vos again took the win.
This year the format will be similar, and Vos, Kirsten Wild, Armitstead and Bronzini are all riders to watch. A total of 25 broadcasters covered the 2014 edition, and the same treatment should befall the 2015 speed fest.
