The Mixino helmet from Spanish brand Catlike often divides opinion with its marmite looks. I’ve called one in to see what all the fuss is about and here are my first impressions:
- It is light, and I mean superlight. Tipping the Total Women’s Cycling scales at just 202g it feels like you’ve got nothing on your noggin.
- It is different looking. The front view reminds me of a Bugatti Veyron (google it!). With 39 vents of varying size and shape the Mixino has distinctive and I think rather unique good looks.
- It is incredibly adjustable! Not only because it comes with extra padding and padding sets to fit various head shapes but mainly due to the retention-system built into the helmet.
- It sits high on the head. Perhaps due to the shape of my head, the Mixino feels as though it’s perched, covering only the top of my head. It could be that I’ve only worn bulkier helmets in the past, so we’ll see how it gets on in the test!
