As you’d expect from Pactimo, the brand that regularly collaborates with artists and designers on special limited edition runs of jerseys, the Pactimo Women’s Ascent Long Sleeved Road Cycling Jersey has distinctive looks, but that’s not all.
If, like me, the colder wetter weather lately has turned your thoughts to what you’ll be wearing in the autumn and winter for cycling, then you’ll also be scoping out long sleeved jersey options.
The Pactimo Women’s Ascent Jersey has a race cut, which means it’s fitted and snug, but it’s a lot more forgiving than a lot of the race cut jerseys I’ve tried. It’s not totally skin tight, and there’s room for a base layer easily.
I tried the Medium sized jersey, and I felt it was a good fit on my curvy size 12 frame. The longer back sat nicely down over my lower back when down on the drops, and the jersey has a good length over the torso. I’d say it was longer than average in the body than the majority of cycle jerseys, which is good news for taller women. The range also goes up to XXL, so if a medium equates to a UK 12, this means that size would roughly equate to a UK 16/18.
A full-length YKK zip is finished with a zip garage to prevent it chaffing the neck, and grippy silicone around the bottom of the jersey helps keep it in place and avoids it riding up while you cycle.
The jersey itself is made from QuattoLite fabric, lightweight polyester with a soft feel against the skin, which has a sort of square pattern in the weave. This fabric is also CoolDry treated which helps it wick sweat away from the skin, and there are thinner mesh panels at the side for increased ventilation. On a long, windy, cool ride with some pretty big climbs, I found it perfect for modulating my temperature.
Three rear pockets give plenty of secure storage space, and the cut and quality of the fabric mean you can actually put quite a weight of stuff in them, and they don’t pull down too much at the back. If you want to use the Pactimo Ascent Women’s Jersey for racing, then it’s handy to know that there is a race radio opening in the rear pocket and a cord loop in the collar.
I really liked the bright block colours here, with white, red and turquoise being eye catching, different, and a stand out colour on the road. Some reflective elements on the jersey help with this too.
