The first thing I noticed about the Shutt Velo Rapide Isobel women’s cycling jersey when I slipped it on is how divinely soft it is. The newest addition to the Shutt Velo Rapide range, the jersey is made from a high end Italian lycra and exudes the look and feel of a high quality product.
Shutt Velo Rapide is a British brand with classic styling whose emphasis lies strongly in quality control. This particular offering was a year and a half in the making, with the team ensuring that every single detail from the zips, to the silicone grippers and even the size of the polka dots were just right.
Sitting on the hanger you would be excused for thinking that it is just another jersey but on closer inspection you begin to notice the attention to detail. 360 degree reflective piping on the bottom of the jersey, a full length reflective zip and a polka dot lined collar set it apart from others on the market.
From a performance perspective I was really impressed with the Isobel jersey. Mesh panels down the sides, coupled with a the highly breathable lycra elsewhere and the full zip meant that regulating my temperature was easy. The jersey wicked away my sweat really efficiently.
The three rear pockets fit everything you need for a day out on the bike but my favourite feature here was the zipped pocket. Located in the centre of the jersey for a change, Shutt has opted for a large hooped zip which makes the pocket super easy to open on the move. The position on the pocket also stop the jersey from sagging on one side if you like to stash heavier items like your phone in that pocket.
Fit wise, I opted for a size small and it fitted like a glove. I am pretty tall at 5′ 10″ and the length was perfect. The Isobel jersey is available up to a XXL (approx UK 18).
Verdict:
At £79 this jersey is not the cheapest. But thankfully the price tag is justified. This jersey offers exceptional comfort, fit and performance and in my opinion the polka do pattern is to die for.
