What’s is Women’s Specific Cycling Gear?
If this Moroccan-inspired jersey doesn’t make you yearn for a lovely long summertime ride with the sun on your back, then nothing will.
In my dreams, I imagine opening a present on Christmas morning and finding this top inside with a plane ticket (for me and my bike) to somewhere hot tucked into the back pocket. It is surely the perfect top to wear at a warm weather training camp or on a touring holiday.
German brand Maloja always create eye catching kit: this top is a case in point, with a ‘hand drawn’ Marrakesh print covering the front and back that will have you wishing you were heading out to the Atlas Mountains without further ado.
Clearly it is designed for summer cycling (it seems a waste to layer it beneath winter gear, though there’s no reason why you can’t do that): it is a lightweight, comfortable top that you can ride in all day long. It is an instant favourite for my cycling wardrobe.
From a technical point of view, the Maloja Marrakesh Jersey is highly wicking and offers ‘Active Odour Control’, based on silver salt and proven effective for the lifetime of the garment. It features a deep ¾ length zip to the front, which is concealed in the centre front seam, and a dropped rear hem.
At the rear are two roomy back pockets: I’d prefer a zip pocket to keep valuables extra secure. However you won’t be buying this top because of the pockets: you’ll buy it because you love the way it looks, and for when those distant days of summer cycling come back!
For: Beautiful design for summer.
Against: No zip pocket.
Price: £71, available from Cicla.
