Review: Pactimo Palisade Jacket

Lorena Jones goes for a spin in the super bright Pactimo Palisade Jacket.

Changing seasons bring changing weather conditions; and with it that age old dilemma of ‘what shall I wear?’. The Pactimo Palisade jacket aims to provide the solution you need and with it’s lined collar, fitted cuff openings and water and wind proof Climabloc™ fabric technology, it claims to be the perfect choice for rides down to 45° – 60°.

This ClimaBloc material means that the Pactimo Palisade jacket is not only water resistant and windproof but also helps to wick moisture away from your skin ensuring you stay comfortable throughout your ride. Available in three colours; fluro, red and black and sizes XS to 2XL, I did feel that the jacket came up a little larger than I expected. Normally a small, I found this a very comfortable fit but I was grateful of the extra room as it allowed for a few extra layers to be put on underneath.

The Pactimo Palisade jacket was a little nippy for a cold November morning. That said, it was a particularly arctic for the period and I assume it would be perfect for less extreme conditions, especially the cross over period between summer and autumn, or during the spring. Where the wind flap on the main zip protected me from the wind down my middle I still wore a gilet underneath.

I blame this more on the weather at the time than the jacket not holding up to the conditions, and am sure that with just a base-layer or a jersey the jacket would be comfortable for most rides. The fleece lined collar added some extra comfort and warmth too! Happy days.

On the flip side however, once on the bike, things warm up as always and a little ventilation is a welcome relief. Thankfully, the Pactimo Palisade jacket has taken this into account! The underarm vents come with zips for you to take control of how much air you let in and out. They have also added a ventilated back flap which is perfect for allowing a little extra comfort without any drafts.

The back of the jacket is nice and long to protect you from any spraying. It also has a silicon gripper on the waist line which also helps to keep the jacket in place and adds extra comfort for longer rides. This easily stuffable jacket is super lightweight and folds up relatively small.

The Pactimo Palisade jacket is flourescent yellow with 360° reflective trim. The bright colour of the jacket clearly adds to the overall visibility making the safety conscious cyclist feel very comfortable.

All in all I love this jacket. Small details go a long way and it is evident from the offset that Pactimo have considered pretty much every eventuality when designing the Palisade jacket.

Price: £28.00 (RRP £50.00), available from Pactimo.
