With a full length zip and simple tricolore colours, it could well be the perfect top to wear when watching Le Grand Depart, and it's perfect for getting you into the spirit of Le Tour.
As it's a performance garment, it does have an athletic cut, meaning it's very fitted. I'm a curvy size 12 and I was a little worried that the size medium wouldn't fit me. Happily, it did fit and the vertical colour blocks were flattering in my opinion. I am on the upper cusp however, so if you like your jersey a little loose, or you are upwards of a 12, you'll need to go up a size.
The race cut also means it's cut high at the front. It looks odd when standing around, but when bent forward over the bike it's fine. The drop tail keeps your lower back covered easily, and silicone gripper around the hem ensures it stays there.
It doesn't just look good however - this jersey can perform with the best of them. The lycra fabric itself feels of high quality, with a closely woven thread. It wicks sweat away quickly, so even when exerting myself on hills I never felt sticky and sweaty.
Two back pockets securely stowed all the essentials, and were deep enough that the items I popped in there felt secure. The silicone gripper at the hem of the jersey does the job here too, preventing the load in the pockets pulling the jersey from side to side.
The Madeleine does have quite a high collar, which was great for keeping the drafts out on cool mornings, and despite my initial fears was actually comfortable. A handy reflective Chapeau logo on the rear
A performance jersey that also ranks highly on the style stakes, this feels good to wear when cycling, and has the practical details taken care of.
