Fresh from their success at the European Track Championships, the Great British women’s track squad are now looking ahead to the 2013/14 UCI Track Cycling World Cup, taking place on home turf in Manchester from 1-3 November 2013.
Yesterday, British Cycling confirmed the line-up for the first round of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup. There were no surprises as it was announced it would be the same team that represented Great Britain at the European Track Championships in Apeldoorn last weekend. The only exception is Katie Archibald, who will compete with her trade team.
After a phenomenal performance at the European Track Championships, which saw the women of Team GB win 5 medals and set the new world record in the women’s team pursuit, Performance Manager Shane Sutton OBE said:
We’ll be looking to build on that over the next couple of weeks, and I’m hoping to see some good performances across the board at the World Cup in Manchester.
To compete at an event at our ‘home’ velodrome is always a big boost to the team and it’s without a doubt our favourite venue to race at. All of the team are looking forward to racing with the support of a home crowd again.
