Bontrager supports women’s cycling by teaming up with Matrix Fitness Racing Academy

Apparel and accessories manufacturer, Bontrager, commit to supplying women's racing team Matrix Fitness Racing Academy with components, wheels and clothing for the 2014 season

Bontrager has made a commitment to women’s racing in the UK by joining forces with the up-and-coming Matrix Fitness Racing Academy women’s team. The brand will supply components, wheels, and apparel to the team in the 2014 season.

Matrix Fitness has high aspirations for the 2014 road season, and team manager Stefan Wyman has stacked the deck with an arsenal of young talent, and experienced riders alike.

Bontrager’s involvement is consistent with a long history within the Trek family of supporting efforts to get more women into cycling, an initiative that has been in play for over a decade.

Chris Garrison of Trek UK commented;

We feel strongly that the key to increasing cycling uptake globally starts with getting more women on bikes, and this is something that Trek and Bontrager have been working towards for years.

By supporting Matrix, and the great group of women on the team, we hope that we can be part of the creation of solid role models for women and girls,

The 10-rider team will also receive additional support from Trek Precision Fit, Trek’s world class bike fitting service. Riders will each receive a fitting to dial in the Bontrager components used on team bikes, in order to ensure that the team has the best possible position for their efforts in the peloton. Garrison added:

Proper bike fit is essential for any rider, but the elements of racing add new variables in the bike and rider equation,

The women on the Matrix team will receive the same level of fitting support as World Tour riders on Trek Factory Racing, which is unrivalled at any level of racing. Trek Precision Fit will help each rider achieve the best possible position on the bike, which ideally will make them more comfortable and confident during races.

Team manager Stefan Wyman has previously commented on Total Women’s Cycling about the level of financial support required to run a women’s team.
