A group of women in the US are setting out to do some extraordinary cycling. Covering thousands of miles, the Sustainable Cycles women will be educating and empowering women about cycling, and menstrual health.
Sustainable Cycles is an organisation that believes: “that anyone who has, will, or does experience menstruation deserves access to basic education so that they can make informed choices about their mobility and their menstrual cycle.”
Riding every day of the month: your guide to menstrual cycling
Setting out on April 1st 2017, this team of empowering women will begin pedalling on an epic adventure across the US. Covering thousands of miles, Sustainable Cycles will be hosting bicycle workshops, menstrual seminars and cleaning living clinics along the way. Their final destination is set for the Society for Menstrual Cycle Research conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
Their aim is not only to promote cycling as a viable, healthy and clean mode of transportation, but to educate women in the harmful affects of disposable sanitary products. Sustainable Cycles believe in the use of reusable menstrual cups, pads and sponges in order to help protect the environment.
This is the sixth tour for the Sustainable Cycles team, but it’s going to be bigger than ever. They need your support to help fund rider scholarships and support their “spokeswomen” on tour, providing them with food, bicycle gear, and emergency repairs as they cycle through communities and provide workshops on their way to Atlanta.
