Looking for a fun charity event for 2014?
Sport Relief is back and bigger than ever for 2014 with the Sport Relief Games, taking place up and down the country from the 21st to the 23rd March.
Part of the well-known Comic Relief charity, Sport Relief takes place every two years and encourages people to get active and raise money for a good cause at the same time.
In 2012 the millions of people who took part raised a whopping £67,977,824, which went towards changing lives of poor and vulnerable people both in the UK and in the worlds poorest countries.
Next year events will take place in London, Glasgow and Manchester, and there’s a sport and distance for everyone. You join in with a 1, 3 or 6 mile run (or jog or walk, whatever you fancy!), make a splash with a 1.5km, 2.5km or 5km swim OR – our personal favourite – a 3, 25 or 50 mile cycle.
It’s the perfect opportunity to get friends and family involved, raise some money for an excellent cause, and get creative – fancy dress cycle, anyone?
Even better, event entry is currently half price, which means you can get booked in and start your charity fund raising (and costume designing) now.
As an example, entry for a family of 4 for the 3mile fun ride is currently a bargainous £12.50, and the 25 and 50 mile rides are £17.50.
What to expect:
London
Recapture the spirit of London 2012 and follow in the tyre tracks of Olympic cycling legends; the London cycle events will start from the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Glasgow
Starting at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, riders taking part in the 25 and 50 mile routes will spin their way around the city, finishing up in Tollcross Park, also the venue for the family ride.
Manchester
The iconic Old Trafford football stadium is the focus for the start and finish of the longer 25 and 50 mile routes in Manchester, and again the base for the 3 mile family ride.
