Total Women’s Cycling Awards 2014: The categories

Voting has closed for the 2014 Total Women’s Cycling Awards, but we’ll be launching the 2015 Awards shortly!

Discover the winners of the 2014 Total Women’s Cycling Awards.

The Total Women’s Cycling Awards 2014 are set to be the ultimate celebration of the individuals, initiatives and companies that have made women’s cycling so triumphant over the last 12 months.

It’s your chance to have your say on which people, places and organisations deserve recognition. Each category is completely open, so you can put forward who you think should win.

To give you a guiding hand, we’ve put together a description of what each category covers. Every vote counts, so spread the word, share the link, and get everyone you know involved.

1. Bike Brand of the Year

Is it their selection of women’s specific bikes? Do you follow their pro-riders religiously? Or are they responsible for the steed you love to ride?

Whatever the reason, we want to know which Bike Brand you’ve been most impressed with over the last 12 months.

2. Cycle Clothing Brand of the Year

Baggies, lycra or urban cycle wear, we want to know the brand that has created the cycling kit you love to ride in, the gear you rate, the garb you tell your friends about.

Who’s hit the spot when it comes to giving us the kit we need, want and deserve.

3. Independent Cycling Retailer of the Year

Banter, advice, support, chat, organised rides – many local bike shops (LBS) offer much much more than just kit and bikes.

If you have an LBS you know and love, get them the recognition they deserve and vote for them to be the Total Women’s Cycling Independent Cycling Retailer of the Year.

4. Cycling Retail Chain of the Year

Which cycling chain has shops with great stock, is equipped with knowledgeable staff and provides outstanding customer service, and most importantly that you feel cater for female cyclists.

Don’t forget, it’s not just the nationwide chains you can vote for; it’s the regional ones too.

5. Online Cycling Retailer of the Year

Large or small, which online retailer has won your hard-earned pennies over the course of the 2013?

Whether they sell excellent women’s specific kit, they have a great selection of cycling accessories, or a super reliable service, vote now to recognise the very best of the web.

6. UK Cycle Venue of the Year

Trail centres, velodromes and cycle parks; there are some truly amazing cycling venues throughout the UK.

So whatever you ride, we want to know which cycling venue has given the best mix of riding, facilities and made your cycling heart spin.

7. UK Cycling City of the Year

This award gives you the chance to vote for the UK’s most bike-friendly destination.

Secure bike parking, cycle lanes, waymarked routes – even festivals and events! Which UK city is dedicated to providing a positive urban life on two wheels.

8. Cycling Initiative of the Year

We want to reward initiatives that encourage more people to get on their bikes, whether that’s local, regional or national.

This could be a workplace initiative, a community project or a campaign that has enhanced the experience of cyclists over the last 12 months.

9. UK Cycling Event of the Year

There have been hundreds of cycling events over the past 12 months. Races, series, rides, right through to festivals and shows – they’re all up for this award.

We want to hear what event you feel deserves to be recognised at the UK Cycling Event of the Year – so get voting now.

10. Women’s Cycling Event of the Year

With this award we are recognising the rising number of women’s specific events in the cycling calendar that are inspiring women to get out on their bikes and ride.

You can vote for any event; a race, a non-competitive event or ride, the only caveat – it’s events with only female entrants we’re looking for.

11. Women’s Cycling Blogger of the Year

Do you know a women’s cycling blog that deserves an award?  Do you have a cycling blog you bookmark and follow?

Let us know which blog inspires you, informs you or makes you laugh so we can crown them best Women’s Blogger of the Year.

There is a catch – forget websites, we’re looking for personal blogs by individuals only.

12. Women’s Cycling Team of the Year

This award will celebrate the triumphs of a women’s cycling team that you feel has achieved the most notable performance over the last twelve months.

Vote for who you feel has shown great teamwork, amazing skill, dedication and a bucket-load of grit and determination.

13. Pro-Rider of the Year

Professional women’s racing has gone from strength to strength, with the top UK riders smashing it on the racing scene worldwide.

No matter what discipline they ride, we want to know which UK female rider you feel has had the most successful season, has performed outstandingly, and deserves to be Total Women’s Cycling UK Pro-Rider of the Year.

14. Women’s Cycling Personality of the Year

We’re looking for who you think best represents the face of women’s cycling in the UK today.

Who’s done something special, who’s name do you know, who do you feel has gone over and above to support, promote and raise the profile of women’s cycling in 2013.

15. Unsung Cycling Heroine

Do you know a woman who inspires people to get involved in cycling in their community? She could be someone who gives up their time or works to develop ways to encourage others to take to two wheels.

We want to recognise the remarkable achievements of women all across the UK, so put forward your nominations now.

Once a shortlist has been created from your nominations, a prestigious judging panel made up of key women within the cycling industry will deliberate the candidates and eventually crown one woman the Unsung Cycling Heroine of the Year!

16. Outstanding Achievement Award

Whether it’s a race win, overcoming a challenge, a new world record or a personal victory, which women in the cycling world do you know that have achieved something incredible in 2013?

Share their stories with us, put forward your nominations, and we’ll create a shortlist.

A prestigious judging panel made up of key women within the cycling industry will deliberate the shortlisted nominations and eventually crown one woman the winner of our Outstanding Achievement Award.
