Looking for a project over the Christmas holidays? How about converting a van or Landrover into the ultimate cycling camper vehicle? One pro-rider, Julia Hofman, did a stunning conversion on hers!
Having a campervan for cycling trips is high up on our dream list of cycling kit. Imagine waking up in the morning and throwing open the doors to see you’re right on the doorstep of awesome trails or roads, the countryside spread out before you. Sounds like bliss!
It would take plenty of planning, and a fair degree of skill and expertise – not least because of the amount of equipment and gear that comes with cycling. You’ll need a place to store your muddy shoes, wet jacket, tools, pumps and spares.
So if you are looking for a little inspiration, then check out the work of German MTB rider Julia Hofman. She transformed her Landrover into an über cycling campervan – and we’re more than a little jealous. You can see her work in action in ‘Landy like around the world’ – scroll down to watch!
Julia Hofman is an enduro rider with Marin Bikes. You may have seen her in action during the inaugural World Enduro Series 2013, and she’s featured in some great videos, like ‘The Good, The Bad and The…’.
What gives her the edge here, though, is that she is also studying Interior Design. In fact, converting her Landrover was her thesis project. That’s the kind of homework we like the sound of!
So grab the blueprints, reach for your hammer, and get hold of some plywood. Amazing Spaces eat your heart out!
