Aldi’s Affordable New Cycle Range Goes Pro

What started off with the occasional piece of cycling kit, Aldi are now introducing entire cycling collections

There’s no hiding the fact that I like Aldi. For an affordable supermarket to have us eagerly awaiting their annual cycling collections, that’s pretty good going!

For me, Aldi is often like a mystery box. I go there to get my groceries, but spend more time magpie-ing my way through the “other” aisles. Some visits won’t result in very much, and other trips will have my trolly full of their seasonal surprises.

A couple years back, Aldi first introduced active wear with the ad hoc piece of cycle specific garment here and there. Today, the supermarket brand has developed a niche army of cyclists who follow their pedalling updates for new kit and competitions.

The Aldi MTB Collection 2015

With this, Aldi have go on to sponsor stage events such as the Aviva Women’s Tour, and even cater to off-road cyclists with road and dirt collections. So without further adieu, Aldi have released their new cycling and pro cycling collections for commuters and road riders.

Aldi Cycling Clothing Collection

No keen cyclist should be without Aldi’s Performance Cycling Jersey (£29.99), and glow in the dark print  Performance Bib-Tights (£29.99). Ideal for layering, and made from quality fabric with built in moisture zones, these high performance garments will help you stay comfortable during long days in the saddle, with unpredictable weather.

If it’s looking to be a wet one, then combine these Heavy Duty Overshoes (£14.99) with a pair of Waterproof Socks (£12.99) to maintain dry feet no matter the weather.

Keep hands warm and dry with breathable Waterproof Lobster Gloves (£7.99). Made from a  windproof and waterproof membrane featuring 3M Thinsulate™ protection. Great for those chilly morning commutes.

An Aldi essential for regular cyclists is their new Insulating Cycling Jacket (£19.99) which features elasticated cuffs and hem, with a dropped hem in the back and reflective detail for added safety.

How about some sweet tech and gadgets? Aldi be selling the Garmin Edge 810 GPS device for £180. The advanced touch-screen cycling GPS is suitable for both on and off the road with a whole host of features designed for any cyclist. Compatible with NT+™ heart rate, speed/cadence and power sensors, this multifunction device is a virtual training partner, interactive map, weather forecast and more, all in one neat, lightweight package.

Turbo sessions in under 30 minutes

Keep up those winter training sessions with the awesome new Fluid Turbo Trainer, available for £70. A quiet and smooth ride which is suitable for bikes with an axle width of between 150 – 210mm. Delivering a realistic ride feel, this compact trainer features a sturdy base and adjustable resistance.

Cycle safely as the days grow darker and visibility becomes limited with an ultra-bright Aluminium COB Bike Light (£12.99), Reflective Bands (£1.99) and Bike Helmet Light (£2.99). Water resistant and with a variety of lighting modes, these COB lights come with universal mounting brackets, and a Micro-USB cable for easy recharging.

In addition to all this, Aldi are releasing a range of tools, bike stands and pumps, including maintenance kits from big brands like Muc-Off and GT 85.

Like with all seasonal collections, once it’s gone, it’s gone. The new cycling collections will be across stores nationwide as of Thursday September 29th, so don’t miss out!
