The first thing you notice about Hope F20 pedals when they come out of the box is how good they look. Available is six sleek colours the Hope F20 is light weight and offers a large concave platform.
Anyone who is a fan of Hope products will be well aware that its products offer far more than good looks. They are made to last. And I am glad to report that the F20 pedals did not disappoint in that department.
10 of the best flat pedals for mountain biking
The pedal itself came equipped with 10 steel pins on either side which you screw in yourself (so make sure you allow a half hour to get these pedals ready to go). These steel pins did not offer the most amount of grip I have ever experienced due to the fact they are just 4mm and are smooth. This means your shoe will not clamp on to the pedal as it will with other flat pedals. However with a pair of Five 10s on my feet, I thought the grip was more than adequate.
Flat vs clipless pedals for mountain biking
The best thing about these pedals is definitely the durability. After their fair share of muddy, rocky rides they look as good as new after each post ride hose down.
Verdict:
All in all I think these are a great set of pedals. They are not the cheapest or the grippiest however. But if you have the funds and are looking for a pair of pedals that will genuinely last a lifetime, I think they are a pretty solid choice.
