She hails from the mountain bike mecca of Peebles in the Scottish Borders so, it’s no wonder that Katy Winton’s path has led her down some steep, technical and gnarly mountainsides where she’s finally found her home in enduro racing.
Riding for Trek Factory Racing, Katy is the Scottish pocket rocket, fast and fearless and no stranger to the EWS podium. While many of us follow Katy on social media and have brushed up on some of her more obvious background and behaviours in cycling, we wanted to dig a little deeper and really flesh out some of Winton’s quirks…
- I hate raw tomatoes
- I was really into horse riding and wanted to pursue a career in that… then I discovered bikes, and they’re a little more affordable
- I raced in the 2011 World XCO Champs in Champery
- I’m not ticklish
- I love the sun and heat, a lot of people don’t expect a purebred Scot to be able to deal with either very well
We can totally relate to choosing bikes over horses!
