Seasons Café Deli, Old Amersham
Once voted one of the top coffee shops in the country there are usually a handful of cyclists sitting outside the Seasons Cafe Deli on a warm sunny day. Nice vibe too and a good cycling community in the area. Obviously a great selection of post-ride snacks and the perfect place to sit and watch the world go by.
The Quince Tree, Stonor
Big shop, café, deli and fresh produce here with plenty of outside space. They even make their own natural energy bar! Perfect spot for a quiet lunch in a quintessential English village in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside but more likely you’d want to end a ride at The Quince Tree and stock up on goodies to take home.
Espresso Lounge, Tring
On the main high street in Tring this is a popular cafe with local cyclists and is run by a keen cyclist. Excellent Fair Trade coffee made by a real connoisseur who will make it to your requested strength and tasty seasonal food, they also have an alcohol license. Ask inside the Expresso Lounge and you can pop your bikes in the secure alley down the side.
Granary Deli, Watlington
Good coffee and a cracking polenta cake here; ciabatta and other tasty lunch food and drink also available. Award winning local foods, tables full of olives, shelves full of chutneys and lots more. The Granary Deli also specialise in cheese. Go easy though, it’s a big climb to get back up on to the Chilterns ridge.
Café in the Woods, Wendover Woods
Perfectly placed for all the trails Wendover offers and Aston Hill is not very far away the Cafe in the Woods serves good food and drinks from the highest point in the Chiltern Hills. Open all year round so don’t restrict your outings to the summer months.
And we’re not finished yet. Coming in Part Two: Brownlow’s Café (Ashridge Estate), Sanuk Craft Centre (Potten End), Rumsey’s of Wendover, Scoops (Berkhamsted) and a few more. There’s quite a list to get through and there’s only so much coffee and cake one can consume in a year…
