5. Mountain Biking in the Surrey Hills, Surrey
If you’ve got teenagers and they’re into mountain biking, then how about taking them out for a few days on the Surrey Hills?
You can stay in Holmbury St Mary Youth Hostel, located in the heart of prime mountain biking territory. The hostel is self catering, so you can keep costs down, but there are also loads of pubs serving some really good food in the area.
The hills themselves are a warren of routes, and there’s absolutely tonnes to keep an energetic teenager occupied. Head to Peaslake or Dorking to check out the bikes shops there and they’ll happily give you advice on where to head and which trails are running well.
The area is also stunningly picturesque, so expect wildlife galore, thatched cottages, and burbling brooks.
When: Availability over Easter
Where: Stay at YHA Holmbury St Mary
6. Cycling and high-wire antics with Go Ape!
Okay, we wouldn’t recommend doing both at the same time, but if you’re a family who like to pack in the activities, then it’s worth checking out Go Ape!
These dare-devil, high roped adventure routes are a lot of fun for kids of all ages. They brief you for safety before you fly down zip-wires, leap of Tarzan Swings and tackle crossings, whilst enjoying some of the UK’s most breathtaking scenery.
They are also located in woodland locations that usually also have forest cycling and mountain biking trails, and a trail center for your well deserved post-adventure cake.
To get you into the Go Ape spirit we’re offering 15% off per person (excludes Saturdays). Simply use promotional code TOTCYC when booking online at goape.co.uk. The code is valid until November 2014 too, so you go back for more in the Summer Holidays!
Dalby Forest in North Yorkshire is a prime example of what you can expect; it’s got bike trails, walking trails, an adventure playground, GoApe!, a visitor centre with restaurant and there’s even a Youth Hostel nearby with last minute Easter availability. That sounds like Easter sorted then.
