Scotland: Ayrshire Coast Cycleway
This linear route stretches from Irvine to Ayr, covering 19 miles of coastline, to take in Toon and Prestwick along the way.
Part of the 214 Lochs and Glens South Cycleway, this route can always be extended if you want to make a day of it.
You’ll also get views of the Isle of Arran on the route, and roadies will be pleased to hear the traffic free route sticks to the tarmac of the National Cycle Network Route 7.
The route passes close to Irvine Beach Park, then heading inward through two Scottish Wildlife Reserves – Gailed Marsh and Shewalton Wood.
Riders rejoin the coast at Troon, which is home to a lively port and marina, staying by the seaside until they reach Ayr.
