Some of you may remember a story on TWC about a month ago about Maggie Scorer (65) and Oscar (7) who are cycling around the entire coast of the UK for charity. It’s no walk in the park as Maggie will cycle 5,000 miles towing Oscar who weighs in at over four stone.
The pair left Aldeburgh in Suffolk in mid-March and we are delighted to report that they are making great ground. According to the website Dog on Tour they have made it as far as Middlesbrough and judging by their pictures, they seem to be having a grand old time. They even made a quick pit stop at Crufts at the NEC on 7 March – Oscar must have been delighted!
A grandmother of eight, Maggie is no stranger to adventure. She’s previously sailed halfway around the world (With Oscar we hasten to add) and cycled the Great Wall of China.
“Some people want to build a garden or sew a tapestry. I like to get out and meet people,” says Maggie. “Life is for living and I like to think this might be an inspiration to other people that just because you are over 60 you don’t have to stay at home and wait for the next visit from the grandchildren, as welcome and lovely as that may be.”
