For crowd favourite and double Olympic gold medallist Laura Trott, 2014 was another great year, with wins at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships, the Commonwealth Games, European Track Championships, Track Cycling World Cup, British National Road Race Championships and British National Track Championships, as well as the Revolution Series.

After helping Wiggle Honda win the team pursuit with Joanna Rowsell and Elinor Barker in the National Track Championships, in September Trott left the team to join Matrix Fitness Vulpine.

Trott also caused some controversy when she said of the Commonwealth Games in the summer:”A lot of people don’t even take it seriously,” comments she later clarified, adding it would be an “amazing experience”.

The year ended on a happy note romantically for Laura Trott with the announcement of her engagement to fellow track star, Jason Kenny.
