Monbento Original Bento Box, around £23
Monbento Original Bento Box, around £23
Monbento make lovely lunchboxes. The Monbento Original Bento Box has that soft-touch feel which makes it feel premium and trustworthy off the bat. There is also an insane array of accessories available to purchase, including cutlery and box separators. But how do we rate them?
Rattleproof?
The Monbento managed to only shed a few drops after having a healthy shove down the stairs. Really quite impressive considering the fact each section has a small, rubber-covered hole for microwaving. This should have been a weak spot but the boxes held up well.
Size and weight
It’s a heavier box than many of the others we tested, but that gives it a feeling quality. We thought it was worth the extra weight, but if you like travelling light it may not suit.
Cleverness
Nice, subtle design features. Everything fits together nicely. Our only dislike was that there was no box separators included; they must be bought separately. This means there’s no space for a handful of nuts or similar. However, it’s clear these boxes are intended primary for asian foods like sushi.
Price
Yep, it’s expensive at around £23. But it will stand up well to wear and tear, hopefully meaning you’ll not have to buy another for a long time.
