Natural Energy Gel Recipe: Honey + Lemon

Natural energy gel recipes, the healthier and tastier alternative to shop bought energy gels.

Recipe Collection: Fatigue Fighting Treats

It’s time to banish shop bought energy gels and bars and get stuck in the kitchen making your own. Natural energy gels are super easy to make, don’t require a large amount of ingredients and settle much better in your body!

Out of all of our natural energy gel recipes, this is a great one to start with before progressing onto some of our adventurous flavours (Coffee Kick, Apple Cinnamon and Strawberry-Chia Gelly Cubes). The ingredients in this gel go hand in hand to create the refreshing, soothing honey and lemon taste we all know (and most of us love) so well.

To store your home-made natural energy gels, you can use freezer bags or buy your own reusable squeeze tubes.

Ingredients

  • 4 pitted dates
  • 1/4 of a cup of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon of lime juice

Method

Place all the ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth.

You can keep adding more lemon juice and coconut oil if the mixture gets too thick and more dates if the mixture becomes too runny.

Finish by transferring the natural energy gel into a freezer bag or squeeze tube and pop into the fridge or freezer until needed.
