How to Treat your Bum with ASSOS and Win a Pair of T.laalalai Shorts Worth £150

Treat your bum with ASSOS and you could win a pair of ASSOS T.laalalai bib shorts

Your bum goes through a lot when you cycle. Pressure, heat and getting butted with by the saddle when you’re descending down a rocky and rough trail. While we can’t help what the terrain throws at you, we can certainly help make things a little more comfortable.

It goes without saying that having a well-fitted saddle can make or break your ride, but what about taking care of your bum? There are two very personal items that are designed to significantly help you out when your bum is under pressure and they are chamois shorts and chamois cream.

Fortunately for us, ASSOS is a master of both as they continually develop products for women’s cycling with performance inspiring technology and a wealth know-how. ASSOS wants you to perform your best, so to help you along the way, they’re giving away a pair of their luxury bib shorts, the T.laalalai Shorts which are worth £150. Read on to find out how you can be in with the chance of winning…

Why do ASSOS bib shorts cost £150?

ASSOS has also developed a chamois cream which has been specifically designed for women and we’ve gotten our hands on some to try out.

What is chamois cream?

Let’s start at the beginning and take a look at what chamois cream is and what it does.

Chamois cream – which can also be a butter – helps reduce chaffing and irritation to those already sensitive bits as you cycle. When you combine a repetitive pedalling motion with pressure, it causes heat and can result in saddle sores and a painful raw skin feeling.

The cream is usually applied directly to the chamois pad, or to the skin, and acts as a lubricant to reduce the friction between you and your shorts. However, chamois cream isn’t for everyone and like with most things cycling related, it comes down to a personal preference. We did a poll on the TWC Twitter page to find out how many of you use chamois cream, and how many don’t.

We were pretty surprised by this and if Twitter would have allowed it, we’d have asked why women choose not to use chamois cream. At the end of the day, it’s down to personal preference, which is the same preference as to whether you wear knickers under your bibs or not!

ASSOS Chamois Crème Woman

Naturally, there will always be some hesitation when it comes to applying any type of cream to your most sensitive areas which are why it’s important to always check the ingredients and ensure the brand who’ve created the chamois cream knows a thing or two about bums and their sensitivity.

ASSOS pride themselves on producing high-quality performance cycling wear and to date, we’ve been pretty impressed by not only their garments but by their proactive efforts to promote women’s cycling. Their women’s chamois cream is a testament to that as they’ve developed a cream which works with a women’s natural PH balance and more sensitive skin to offer comfort even after many hours in the saddle.

ASSOS’ Chamois Crème Woman is white in colour and has a pleasant and subtle fragrance. It’s light on the skin and has a wonderfully smooth consistency. For the application, I always apply directly to my chamois pad rather than my skin, this is because of my germ-a-phobic ways and not wanting to double-dip in the tub.

The subtle hints of menthol can be detected when in contact with the skin as it warms to create a soft tingling sensation. It really takes no time at all to cream your chamois pad and once you’re done, you’re good to ride.

I’ve used ASSOS’ Chamois Crème Woman pre-ride on the trails, on the road and on the track. It’s become a cycling essential for me and unless I’m popping to the shops, I’ll always use this – without knickers – within my chamois shorts. Since using this cream, I’ve found a significant reduction in chaffing, and for someone who often gets bikini waxes, I’ve noticed fewer ingrowing hairs – hurray!

This chamois cream developed by ASSOS not only compliments the skin but the shorts as well. It’s moisturising properties help improve the longevity of your shorts as it’s been designed in conjunction with ASSOS luxury line of padded bottoms.

Always remember that when using chamois cream, ensure you apply to a clean pair of bib-shorts and always wash out the bib shorts and yourself after each ride.

You can purchase a pot of ASSOS’ women’s chamois cream here for just £11 – a small price to pay for comfort, don’t you think?
