You can pay a lot of money for tyres that get punctures all the time and wear out quickly, or you can buy Vittoria Rubino Pros, and just about forget your troubles.

I have used Vittoria Rubino Pro tyres on my fixed gear commute bike for about two years riding 25 miles a day five days a week, 43 weeks a year. That’s a lot of miles and they are showing not huge signs of wear.

On top of that I have had a puncture a grand total of no times. Not one. In two years. And I tend to run my tyres quite soft unless I’m racing. Don’t ask me why.

Will you win the Tour on these? Unlikely. They are not the speediest of tyres and if you put them on your road bike then you’d notice a bit more effort is required on the pedals. But for every day durability, good hold on corners and a worry-free whip through traffic you’re on to a winner.

Verdict

Reassuringly reliable tyres. They may not be super-quick, but they’ll get you there, and for round-town rubber that’s the most important thing.
