Gravel racing has become a pretty popular event in the UK. It invites riders to race on either a gravel bike or mountain bike as the route usually encompasses a mix of terrain and gradient, but with a lot of miles. This style of riding is quite possibly the ultimate test of mountain bike handling and road cycling stamina.
Giro Sport Design has partnered with Fabric to bring the famed US event, Grinduro, to the UK. On July 15th, 400 riders will get to experience Grinduro’s unique blend of bike racing and festival good times on the Isle of Arran, Scotland.
How to deal with gravel and grit
So what is Grinduro? It’s a combination of gravel road race and mountain bike-style enduro: one long 60 mile loop of pavement, gravel, and dirt, where finishing times are based on four timed segments (each roughly five-to-seven minutes). But Grinduro is not just a bike race. It’s a celebration of cycling with as much emphasis on the fun as the ride, with excellent food, an impressive display of art and incredible handmade bikes, live music, camping, and a festival atmosphere.
Registration for Grinduro UK is now open. For more information and to register, head over to their website here.
