You Can Now Buy the Canyon//SRAM Bike

The bike we've all been dreaming of could be yours (if you've got a spare £5k)

When new women’s UCI pro team Canyon first unveiled their team kit, and brilliantly matching bikes, the cycling industry immediately declared unanimous adoration. Cyclists, men and women, were hugely taken by the matt black design with its spashes or pink and green – and the obvious question was ‘can we buy it?’

After much anticipation, Canyon//SRAM decorated versions of Canyon’s Ultimate CF SLX women’s bike – the very machine ridden by the girls on the team- are now on sale.

The bike currently shares identical frame geometry to the unisex Ultimate CF SLX – ridden by UCI men’s Team Katusha, though the contact points have been adjusted to create a better fit.

Canyon//SRAM recently took on ex-pro Katrin Neumann who is working to develop a women’s specific frame based on data from customers and feedback from the team – we interviewed her to get some more detail on the developments here.

The bike, which we were lucky enough to take for a spin quite recently (with slightly different spec and alas, paint job) is a thoroughbred racer. The bike is desgined to provide impeccable power transfer and handling, all at just over 6kg with plenty of aero features – most notably the all in one handlebar and stem creation. Comfort isn’t forgotten, and has been slightly improved for 2016 with a reconfigured seat post clamp that sits further into the frame – to reduce the amount of available flex from the protruding section of post.

The Cayon//SRAM painted version now available comes in at £4,999 – a lot of money for most of us to part with for a bike. However, it comes with a SRAM Red groupset, and Zipp 303 Firecrest Carbon Clincher wheels fitted with Continental Grand Prix 4000S II tyres. In short, it’s an amazing frame with a top end groupset and wheels from the best of the best manufacturers.

The cockpit is Cayon’s own, super wind dodging H36 Aerocockpit CF, and it’s all finished off with a lovely Selle Italia SLS Lady Flow SE perch.
