Review: Ride Ladies Print Jersey

The 9 Times a Multi-Tool Saved My Life

The Ride Ladies Print short sleeved jersey is made in the UK, and manages to combine some attractive design elements without looking too loud

Tested for hours in the hot Tuscan sunshine, I can say with certainty that this jersey is good at wicking sweat and maintaining a comfortable body temperature. As a fair skinned woman, I was also more than a bit pleased to find that the claimed SPF qualities do indeed pan out.

I liked the look of this jersey – it’s a flattering dark colour – but plain black is kind of boring, so the subtle polkadots livened things up a bit, as did the purple flashes. Grippy silicone patches on the elastic waistband helped keep it in place effectively when riding, even on the drops, without much tugging or pulling required.

Having eaten a wee bit too much pasta recently, I was pleased to find that the size medium was actually a little generous, so if you are at the small end of the UK size 12 scale you might want to go down a size if you like your road jerseys to fit tightly. It’s spot on if you like it a bit looser, and has a flattering cut. In terms of length, it came down to my hips and I’m 5 foot 8 so I’d say it was a good length.

With an RRP of £49.99, it does have a lot of good features, but it was let down by the absence of others. The full length zip is good, but the collar is high and there is no zip garage, so I did find that when the jersey was fully done up it rubbed and chaffed. The sleeve length is also good, being a little longer than a lot of other jerseys, but the stitching on the seams was a bit rough and again rubbed after a couple of hours of riding. The seams internally are also not flatlocked stitched.

There are four pockets on the back, three open with an elastic strip to keep things secure, and one smaller side accessed zip pocket which is perfect for keeping cards or a purse secure.

As with most jerseys out there, the Ride Ladies Print Jersey features reflective detailing, but in all honesty they are pretty small and I don’t know exactly how effective they would be in action. They consist of one patch located strategically on the rear pockets, one on the right sleeve and reflective strips along the rear zipper pocket.

Overall it’s a good looking jersey, and will perform well for shorter summer rides, or autumn rides when layered with a base layer.
