This jersey appealed straight out of the wrapper, it looks great and is a little different to anything I’ve seen before. It is made in Italy from breathable Italian polyester jacquard (which basically means a fabric with an intricately woven pattern) and on the De Marchi website is recommended for temperatures between 24-32 C. I live in the north east of England and if I had to wait for those temperatures it would never get worn! The first time on it was worn over a base layer and coped admirably with sunshine and temperatures in the mid to high teens.
Like a lot of Italian brands it measures up a little small, I’m a UK 10 and the medium fit nicely, a well fitting cut with a long back and an elasticated waist but unusually no grippers. The central back panel of the jersey is sewn in separately to give ‘enhanced stability of full pockets’ of which there are three. They are deep and spacious enough to hold spare tubes, phone, money and a rain cape and despite the lack of grippers the jersey stayed in place throughout the ride. A combination of the longer length and the separate back panel perhaps.
When worn next to the skin, (indoors for a sweaty roller session) the jersey wicked sweat well and felt soft against the skin. All in all it is a very classy, extremely well finished piece of kit.
