The Hincapie Chromatic Women’s Jersey is a stylish lightweight summer road with a lovely professional feel.
I instantly liked the styling, particularly the purple stitching which makes a potentially ordinary black and white top, feel just a little bit special.
This is a very lightweight top, which was a snug fit on me (I’m a size 12 and felt the medium was a bit too ‘fitted’). It is cut for road riding, and maybe because it was in close contact with my skin, or due to the material, it felt quite damp after a while. It was wicking well, but kept me slightly cool. On reading the information about the material, this is exactly what it is designed to do. I wonder whether on a mid-spring day in the UK, it is slightly too cooling. I would think this is ideal for an overseas training camp (in the sun), or on really hot summer day.
There are some great styling features; a large chrome logo zip puller on the full length zip, which is easy to grab with one hand and gloves, two deep pockets on the rear swallowed trail snacks, money and other essentials, and there is also small rubberised gripper at the rear which does stop the jersey riding up.
The sleeve length was nice, and the subtle reflective pattern on the cuff is a great idea.
I am a little nervous about the washing instructions, which states wash alone and on a cold wash. This is unlikely in my chaotic life; it will eventually end up with my other cycling kit, so I hope it survives.
VerdictReally stylish, with some great features, although can be a bit cool in average UK temperatures.
