10 Pieces of Spring Cycling Kit for the New Season

Here's a look at some of the gear we can't wait to wear this season...

There are a lot of reasons why we’re excited about spring, not least because it’s a chance to give our cycling wardrobe a bit of a refresh. We can’t wait to feel a little lighter and brighter in the saddle, not to mention spending less time getting ready for a ride putting ALL the layers on. However, this is a changeable season and as such, you’ll need to be prepared.

9 Tips for a Seamless Progression into Spring Cycling

Here is our edit of essential spring kit staples and where to find them.

Rapha Women’s Core Jersey – £75

A splurge on a new jersey is just enough to get us excited about the arrival of spring and we are big fans of what the Rapha Core Collection has on offer for the season. Their classic navy jersey combines all the right tech for a comfortable ride and also comes with arm warmers as a little extra.

SealSkinz Waterproof Oversocks – £38

Whilst full blown booties seem a little heavy-duty for spring rides, you might still need a little protection in the foot department. We love these bright, waterproof oversocks as a happy compromise.

Sportful Women’s Hot Pack NoRain Jacket – £120

A worthy investment for spring riding is protection against those  unpredictable April showers. This jacket from Sportful is their  lightest, most compact waterproof jacket that folds down into a jersey pocket.

dhb Aeron Women’s 3/4 Bib Tight – £70

For transitional seasons and those dawn or dusk rides where cool temperatures still linger the Aeron women’s 3/4 bib tights will keep your all important knees protected and warm.

Hoy Vulpine Women’s Senko Bib Shorts – £125

There are some great things coming out of HOY Vulpine at the moment and we’re impressed with these women’s specific aero bib shorts. These bibs include a Coolmax mesh body which provides extra cooling, security and comfort. You can read more about the collection and see the creative photos from their shoot here.

Queen of the Mountains Baselayer – £30

Queen of the Mountains is a new arrival making waves with the women’s cycling scene. They are big believers in the art of good layering and this base layer from the Ventoux collection is the perfect start to a comfortable ride, free from scratchy labels.

Sportful Exclusive Aero T Gloves – £19.20

In lieu of cosy winter gloves we move into the padded, fingerless variety that continue to provide grip and comfort but also let your hands breathe. Because we’re feeling bright and cheery about the arrival of spring here are a pair of colourful, rainbow-streaked gloves from Sportful.

TSH Resort Celeste Flower Socks – £10

Nothing screams ‘spring riding’ quite like these Andy Warhol-inspired socks designed by Lauren Ayers for the Ten Speed Hero Resort Collection. Pull them up high and ride with pride!

Morvelo Stealth Stormshield Leg Warmers – £40

If the decision to go straight to shorts seems a little too hasty, a pair of leg warmers will provide an extra level of comfort. This pair from Morvelo are thermal, water repellent and windproof for any conditions spring weather might throw your way.

Should you be Using Warm-up Oil this Spring

Café du Cycliste Madeleine Gilet – £75

A gilet will take the edge off a spring ride and this lightweight, windproof and water repellent design from Cafe du Cycliste is also incredibly stylish and looks great layered over a jersey.
