5. Bwlch Penbarras, Denbighshire
Don’t ask us how to pronounce it, but we’re raring to climb when it comes to the Bwlch Penbarras in Denbighshire. With views of the Moel Famau hill, this North Wales climb is as pretty as it is challenging.
The Very Best Cycling Events and Sportives for 2015
At 2.3km, you’ll be hitting an average 11 per cent gradient, with that terrifying 25 per cent hairpin pictured above chucked in for good measure. It also links up nicely with other famous climbs in the area, such as The Shelf and Horseshoe Pass.
