Thousands of Women Join Together to Ride the Rapha Women’s 100

Did you join the biggest global women's ride at the weekend?

On Sunday July 17th, the annual Rapha Women’s 100 saw women from all over the globe rally together and hit the roads to cycle 100km.

This is a ‘sportive’ ride like no other – it’s an organised ride, but there’s no pre-set route, no time limits, and no support other than the camaraderie that women in your group provide. The annual event is all about women coming together, cycling together and covering 100km in order to promote the wonderful world of cycling alongside one the leading cycling brands, Rapha.

The iconic Rapha brand launched in 2004, and in its short lifespan, it’s had a considerable impact on the cycling community. Not just because they produce quality cycling apparel for men and women, but they get involved in the cycling community and push boundaries for new innovative performance wear, like their new cycling bra.

Rapha is a TWC Champion Brand. Find out why

Rapha isn’t just for the hobbyist, but for the professionals also. Last year, it was announced that Rapha would ally would Canyon//SRAM women’s team to unleash perhaps the most stunning race kit we’ve seen to date.

With Rapha leading the way, we’ve been following the Rapha Women’s 100 via social media from the weekend and it looks to have been the biggest turnout yet.

Rapha Women’s 100 2016

With over 4,000 women taking part in 2013 and over 8,000 in 2014, 2016 expected riders were estimated in the tens of thousands. With many proudly wearing the Rapha Women’s 100 kit, riders were up early, with their Strava running and heading out on a female powered adventure.

With cyclists uploading their photos, status and progress along the way, the #womens100 lit up social media platforms for the world to follow. Here’s a selection of empowered women taking on the mammoth ride.

Events like these are fantastic for promoting cycling, and a great way of bringing riders together. It’s not about the race, how fast, or what course, it’s about community and the fun of riding.

Next year promises another successful and even bigger turnout, so get involved and keep your eyes peeled later in the year for Rapha Women’s 2017.
