If you’re looking to get your wheels rolling into the world of sportive road cycling, then clothing brand Fat Lad at the Back are launching a series of amateur events this Autumn.
After massive success with their men’s range of plus size performance clothing, FLAB launched their women’s line in 2014: Fat Lass at the Back which has received a warm welcome by the women’s market.
With the goal of encouraging novice riders to enter sportives, meet like-minded riders and push the boundaries of their comfort zone, FLAB have organised sportive rides which will tackle tough climbs: Leighton Buzzard, Ivinghoe Beacon, Whipsnade Bison and Dunstable Downs.
The do’s and don’ts of riding sportives
Riders will be able to choose from 25 mile, 50 mile and 75 mile distances around Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire in October, each boasting challenging climbs, rolling descents and stunning landscapes.
You’ll set off from the Liscombe Park and head into the Chiltern Hills. You’ll will be greeted by the notorious Bison Hill of Whipsnade, and endure the Toms Hill of Aldbury.
The ride will take all the lad and lasses through the humble Stockgrove wood and the proud Ashridge estate topping the Chilterns. The descent past the iconic Invinghoe Becon provides sensational views of Buckinghamshires finest features with its open countryside and natural character.
The descent into the northern basin of the peaks passes winding country roads of Tring and Wingrave, as well as the glorious Marston Lake before returning home to Liscombe Park.
If you’re keen to give it a go, the ride takes place on Sunday October 2nd with registration now open to secure your place. Head over to FLAB’s website for more information.
