A London gym plans to trial fitting out commuter buses in the city with spin bikes so that people can enjoy a class on the way to work.
In a revolutionary move they’re aiming to kill two birds with one stone: combining cycling and getting to work. Ok, we’re being sarcastic there – but admittedly a commute through central London doesn’t serve the same goal as an interval spin session (nor should it).
The spin bus, planned by “1 Rebel” gyms, will be called “Ride 2 Rebel” and there are already over 200 people in line for their bus pass as the organisation is offering a 10 per cent discount for early sign ups.
The bus will pick spinners up Clapham, Stratford, Angel and Kensington, and drop them off at gyms across the city where they can shower and use facilities.
Concept creators James Balfour and Giles Dean are seeking interest before they fit out their vehicles. However, they’re not the first to try out the concept – there is already a “Bus Bike” service in Boston, USA. Launched last year, its yet to start offering a regular service, though the idea is being explored via a website survey.
What do you think? Would you rather get your ride in outdoors, or is this the kind of service you might be keen to invest in? You can get in line here..
