Laura Kenny (nee Trott) has announced that she and husband Jason are expecting their first child.
Kenny posted a photo of Jason’s bike, her own brand ‘Trott’ bike, and a runner bike ready for their new baby, following her twelve week scan.
The 24-year-old four time Olympic champion married eight time champion Mr Kenny, 28, in September last year. Her agent has reinforced the news, saying: “I can confirm that Laura Kenny is indeed pregnant and that she, Jason and their respective families are absolutely thrilled and delighted with the news. They very much appreciate all the kind wishes and messages of support that they have received already.”
Following the initial announcement, Kenny posted two more related images, the first of their two dogs hypothesising about the effect the newborn would have on their sleep…
And the second showing off the cool kicks the little one will be sporting from birth…
Congratulations have poured in for the couple, though Mr Kenny took a slightly more amusing approach, responding with a tongue in cheek comment about the coming months:
@LauraKenny31 I wondered why this leaflet came through the post… pic.twitter.com/OBSY9DRNlj

With most Olympic cyclists taking some ‘down time’ after the Rio Olympics, and Tokyo 2020 still a long while away, the pregnancy seems like perfect planning – and of course the public has already started preparing for the baby’s future success:
@JasonKenny107 @LauraKenny31 Hey @octopus43, I think the 1st GB gold of the 2036 Olympics has been confirmed

We’d like to wish the couple a whole-hearted ‘congratulations’ – and we look forward to that runner bike being put to good use!
