To celebrate International Women’s Day this week, the Transport for Greater Manchester is hosting the Women on Wheels event: a whole day of female-friendly cycle events, and activities to support and promote women’s cycling.
The Women on Wheels campaign aims to support women who cycle or wish to just give it a go; events will include training courses and maintenance sessions, group rides and local cycling club events. It’s also a great opportunity to meet other riding women, and take along a friend who is new to cycling.
In addition to the activities around the Greater Manchester area throughout March, the TFGM are planning a large one day event on the Saturday March 11th at the National Cycle Centre, for a day full of events, activities and workshops for women of all cycling abilities.
There’ll be something for every budding cyclist including: Velodrome track taster sessions; mountain biking taster sessions; bicycle maintenance clinics; bike fitting and equipment advice; cycling related arts and crafts; pedal powered sound system; photo exhibition; stalls and more.
The event is totally free to attend, and while there are unlimited entries to the event, you may need to sign up for some of the workshops. More information can be found on their website here, alternatively, you can check out their Facebook page here.
